It appears that Tuesday will present a challenging situation for the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and government negotiators, unless there is a significant breakthrough. The PTI is demanding the dissolution of assemblies before May 14th, but the government has shown no inclination to consider this request.

The cordial relationship that had been on display between the two sides all week was disrupted by the late-night raids on the residence of former Punjab Chief Minister, Parvez Elahi.

Given that both major parties have remained inflexible in their positions, the prospects for positive outcomes from the dialogue are now becoming very unlikely.
