In response to the alleged “abduction” of PTI chairman Imran Khan from the premises of the Islamabad High Court last week, the opposition party PTI has decided to file a case against the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Rangers. Additionally, the PTI will also lodge cases regarding the “murder of unarmed citizens at peaceful protests” held nationwide.
During a meeting at Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence on Sunday, party leaders resolved to nominate the interior minister, as well as the chief ministers and police chiefs of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in these cases. The PTI demanded the formation of a high-powered commission comprising judges from the Supreme Court to investigate the killing of unarmed citizens and the alleged attempts to incite protesters and create anarchy in the country.
According to PTI sources, at least 24 people have been reported killed and around 700 others injured during a series of demonstrations by PTI supporters across the country. They further claimed that more than 3,500 leaders and workers were arrested by law enforcement agencies and taken to undisclosed locations.
