ISLAMABAD – Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb addressed the circulating news on Tuesday, dismissing the claim of a public holiday on May 25, designated as Pakistan Martyrs Day, as fake.
The Ministry of Information took to Twitter to share the official notification regarding the holiday, emphasizing that spreading fake news is not only unethical and illegal but also a disservice to the nation.
“It is the responsibility of everyone to reject irresponsible behavior. Reject #FakeNews,” the ministry stated.
The information ministry clarified that the notification regarding the holiday on Martyrs Day is false.
Earlier, a notification had been circulated stating that the federal government had declared May 25 as a public holiday.
However, the Pakistan Private Schools Federation (APPSF) announced that all schools would remain closed on May 25.
Kashif Mirza, the President of APPSF, mentioned that board exams would proceed as scheduled, but regular classes would resume on May 26 as planned.
Mirza added that summer vacations across the country would take place from June 15 to August 14, with schools reopening on August 15.
Furthermore, Mirza confirmed that summer vacations in the province of Sindh would commence from June 1 to July 31.
