Karachi – Imran Ismail, a former leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Sindh, has announced his departure from politics and tendered his resignation from party positions, following a list of other leaders who have recently done the same.
In a press conference on Saturday, Ismail, a close associate of Imran Khan, stated that this would be his final political appearance. He expressed his dismay over the events that took place on May 9 and declared his resignation from the post of additional secretary general and from the core committee.
Ismail acknowledged his strong rapport with Imran Khan and highlighted his role as one of the party’s four founding members. However, he mentioned being in a situation where he can no longer continue in politics.
The seasoned politician clarified that he did not participate in the riots and rallies that occurred after Imran Khan’s arrest. He stated that his decision to part ways with the party was made after careful consideration. He bid farewell to Imran Khan with the phrase “Khan Sahib Khuda Hafiz” and extended his goodbye to the PTI as well.
The mass exodus of former ruling party members began when the government launched a crackdown following attacks on civil and military installations.
