The picturesque district of Narowal is abuzz with excitement as it gears up to host the highly anticipated National T-10 match at the newly constructed Narowal Cricket Ground on May 28. This significant event will mark the soft opening of the state-of-the-art Narowal Sport City, a sprawling complex that promises to be a haven for sports enthusiasts.

The decision to hold the match in Narowal was made during a high-level meeting on Thursday, where the arrangements for the friendly National T-10 match were finalized. Chaired by Federal Minister for Planning Development & Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, the meeting witnessed the presence of key stakeholders, including the Secretary of the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), Director General of the Pakistan Sport Board, Chairman of the PCB Management Committee (via Zoom), the District Police Officer (DPO), the Deputy Commissioner of Narowal, the Director of PTV Sports, and other relevant officials.

The Narowal Sports City, a magnificent complex boasting 14 stadiums and courts, is ready to welcome sports enthusiasts from various disciplines. With facilities for cricket, football, hockey, volleyball, squash, table tennis, lawn tennis, badminton, and even swimming pools, the sport city aims to cater to the diverse interests of athletes and provide a nurturing environment for their growth.

During the meeting, Minister Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the importance of offering the youth of the country the best possible platform to showcase their talent. He expressed his belief in the immense potential of the nation’s youth to bring about transformative change. In light of this, all relevant stakeholders were directed to complete the necessary arrangements by May 22, ensuring a seamless and memorable event. The presence of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, alongside other dignitaries, members of parliament, and retired cricketers, will undoubtedly add to the grandeur of the occasion.

In terms of broadcasting, the match will be aired live on PTV Sports, ensuring that fans across the nation can witness the thrilling contest. To maintain a secure environment, the DPO has been entrusted with the responsibility of coordinating the necessary security arrangements, with the assistance of the police and Rangers personnel. Acting as a focal person for the coordination among all stakeholders, the Deputy Commissioner of Narowal will preside over a meeting on May 20 at the Narowal Cricket Ground. The meeting will be attended by the Director General of the Pakistan Sport Board, a representative from the PCB, and a representative from PTV, with the aim of finalizing the arrangements for this momentous event.
