Police have apprehended Farhat Farooq, a former Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) of Punjab, in connection with the attack on Jinnah House in Lahore during the violent protests on May 9. The arrest was made possible through geofencing technology, and the suspect will be presented before a court for further legal proceedings.

Another individual, Awais Mustaq, has also been taken into custody after being located through the geofencing process.

On May 9, supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) staged aggressive demonstrations following the arrest of their party leader in a corruption case. The situation escalated when protesters entered cantonment areas and targeted military installations, including the residence of Lahore Corps Commanders, in addition to setting fire to various memorials. A group of protesters even attempted to attack the General Headquarters (GHQ).

In response to these incidents, the police initiated an operation to apprehend the individuals involved in the attacks on military and public properties. Modern technology, including video analysis from social media, is being employed to identify the suspects.

Thus far, several female PTI workers have been arrested in connection with the violence witnessed during the May 9 protests.
