TDTOP News reported on Tuesday that economic expert Khurram Shehzad has stated that the federal government is preparing to impose additional taxes on the salaried class in order to expand the tax net, given the high inflation rate.During an interview on the ARY News program ‘Bakhabar Savera,’ Khurram Shehzad expressed his views on the government’s approach towards the salaried class. He criticized the fact that the consequences of politicians’ mistakes have always been shouldered by the general public, resulting in an increased financial burden. He emphasized, “The nation and the corporate sector will bear the burden of these political mistakes due to unclear financial decisions.”While acknowledging the seriousness of the stalled International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan program, Shehzad clarified that the IMF has never compelled the government to unfairly treat the poor or the corporate sector, but rather to improve financial matters. He further argued that relying solely on imposing taxes on the already taxed salaried class and corporate sector will not resolve the financial issues at hand.It remains to be seen how the government’s plans to increase taxes will be implemented and its impact on the overall economy and the public’s financial well-being.
