Mahek Bukhari, a social media sensation, and her mother, Ansreen Bukhari, were convicted of a brutal double homicide and given life sentences in prison.
During a high-speed chase in Leicestershire, the victims, Saqib Hussain and Hashim Ijazuddin, both barely 21 years old, died in a tragic vehicle accident.
A love triangle gone horribly wrong serves as the catalyst for this horrific event. Ansreen, who was 46 at the time, was the subject of a threat by Saqib Hussain to reveal an affair they had.
The Bukharis planned to meet Saqib in a Tesco parking lot and offered to reimburse him for the £3,000 he had spent on Ansreen while they were dating. They sought to steal Saqib’s phone because they thought it contained obscene photos of Ansreen that he was going to reveal.
But when Saqib and his friend Hashim were attacked by a group of disguised persons hired by the Bukharis, the situation descended into violence. The victims were involved in a terrifying pursuit along the A46 that reached speeds of up to 90 mph. Their car veered off the road and collided with a tree. They died when the car caught fire later.
Judge Timothy Spencer KC described the case as a “story of love, obsession, and extortion” and used the phrase “cold-blooded murder” without holding back. He emphasized the significance of Instagram and TikTok in Mahek Bukhari’s life, where she had amassed tens of thousands of followers by posting style and beauty advice.
Judge Spencer spoke directly to Mahek, criticizing her “self-obsession” and “warped values,” emphasizing her apparent lack of concern for the effects of her conduct on other people.
Mahek gave her father, who was present in the courtroom, a kiss as she was brought away to begin her life sentence.
In contrast to her life as a mother and homemaker, the court also emphasized how Ansreen had been enmeshed in the “glamour” of her daughter’s social media profession. He emphasized how out of character Ansreen had been for her involvement.
The trial featured moving testimony from the families of the victims, underscoring the incident’s terrible effect on their lives. Sikandar Hayat, the father of Mr. Ijazuddin, voiced his surprise that the defendants did not dial 911 following the collision.
Rekan Karwan and Raees Jamal, who assisted Mahek and Ansreen Bukhari in the double homicide, also received sentences for their participation in the crime. Raees Jamal was already incarcerated for rape and serving time.
