Islamabad, 19 Sep – A momentous occasion marked the first-ever gathering of the Fund Management Committee of the Film and Drama Finance Fund, convened under the leadership of Zahoor Ahmad, Secretary of Information and Broadcasting in Islamabad.

Addressing the distinguished attendees, Secretary Zahoor Ahmad underscored the Film and Drama Finance Fund’s pivotal role in rejuvenating the Pakistani cinema, aligning with the vision laid out in the 2018 Film and Broadcasting Policy. He emphasized how this initiative would usher in a new era for filmmakers, granting them access to an array of financial resources, grants, and loans to support their creative endeavors.

The Film and Drama Finance Fund, launched in August of the current year, initially boasted a formidable one billion rupees in seed funding. Subsequently, the Ministry set up the Fund Management Committee, comprising both ex-officio members and representatives from the film industry, to oversee and manage the fund’s operations.

During the gathering, Samina Farzin, the Director General of the Directorate of Electronic Media and Publications, extended her gratitude to Secretary Zahoor Ahmad and provided a comprehensive overview of the Film and Drama Finance Fund’s inner workings, along with elucidating the committee’s responsibilities.

The inaugural meeting of the Fund Management Committee marks a significant milestone in the efforts to bolster the Pakistani film and drama industry, promising a brighter future for both filmmakers and enthusiasts of Pakistani cinema.
