Lahore: A special court has issued arrest warrants for Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, President of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), in a case involving the embezzlement of development funds. The court’s decision comes after dismissing Elahi’s pre-arrest bail request related to irregularities in development projects initiated during his tenure as chief minister.
The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) of Gujranwala had filed the case against the PTI president, alleging misappropriation of development funds. In an effort to apprehend Elahi, a joint team comprising ACE and police conducted another raid at his residence in Gulberg. However, their attempts to arrest him were unsuccessful.
Similar to previous raids, the law enforcement team temporarily closed Zahoor Elahi Road, causing significant inconvenience to commuters for several hours. The team searched neighboring houses during the operation but could not locate the PTI leader, who is wanted in connection with allegations of misuse of power and embezzlement of development funds.
Earlier this month, during a raid at Elahi’s residence, the ACE had also entered Chaudhry Shujaat’s house, leading to a dispute as Shujaat’s sons resisted the ACE team’s entry, accusing them of trespassing.
The case against Chaudhry Parvez Elahi highlights the ongoing investigation into the alleged embezzlement of development funds and the efforts made by law enforcement agencies to apprehend him for questioning.
