Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) proposed hybrid model for the Asia Cup 2023 is expected to receive approval from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), with Sri Lanka selected as the neutral venue. According to the Indian news agency Press Trust of India, this model will allow Pakistan to host only four matches of the tournament, while the remaining matches will be played in Sri Lanka. The decision to adopt the hybrid model came after Oman Cricket board chief Pankaj Khimji, a respected member of the ACC executive board, was assigned to find a solution. The ACC board member, speaking on the condition of anonymity, revealed that most countries were not in favor of the hybrid model. However, the compromise reached entails four non-India games, namely Pakistan vs Nepal, Bangladesh vs Afghanistan, Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka, and Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh, to be held at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. The highly anticipated India vs Pakistan matches and all other Super Four games will take place in either Pallekele or Galle, as per the report. The ACC is expected to make a formal announcement regarding these arrangements on Tuesday.
