In the capital city of Islamabad, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, previously a senator and a prominent figure in the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), was inaugurated as the eighth interim prime minister of Pakistan on Monday.
President Arif Alvi oversaw the swearing-in ceremony of Kakar at Aiwan-e-Sadar. The event was attended by former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with former cabinet members.
Dignitaries such as Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, and various other high-ranking officials graced the occasion with their presence.
In a parting message to the nation on Sunday, former premier Shehbaz expressed his confidence in the caretaker prime minister’s capability to ensure impartial and transparent elections.
