Russia Getting ready for a New Push in Eastern UkraineThe commander of the ground forces for the Ukrainian military, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, announced that preparations were already under way for another Russian offensive in the eastern region of Ukraine, which is governed by Moscow.

After a month of violent clashes and significant deaths in the Kupiansk and Lyman districts, Syrskyi said that the opposing forces are reorganizing in a message posted on his Telegram channel. He mentioned the simultaneous deployment of newly constituted divisions and brigades from Russian territory to strengthen their forces.

According to Syrskyi, the Russian side wants to improve its fighting prowess in order to resume aggressive military operations. He claimed that Russian forces are consistently using heavy artillery, mortar bombardments, and aerial assaults but did not provide any further details.

The general highlighted the urgency of taking quick action to fortify defensive positions along weak fronts and to advance when practical in light of these circumstances.

Following the February 2022 invasion, Russia first took control of Kupiansk, which had a pre-war population of about 27,000 people. But in a major offensive carried out in September, Ukrainian soldiers soon regained control of the town, causing Moscow great embarrassment.
