Russian officials claimed on Thursday that a Ukrainian drone heading toward Moscow was shot down by the nation’s air defenses.

According to the Russian defense ministry, the drone was shot down above the Voskresensky neighborhood.

The mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, stated on Telegram that no injuries or property damage had been reported.

A wave of drone assaults from Ukraine were launched against six Russian regions on Wednesday, including one that damaged an airfield close to Russia’s border with Estonia and Latvia. According to emergency personnel quoted by the Russian news agency Tass, the drone started a massive fire and damaged four Il-76 military transport jets, which are capable of transporting troops and large amounts of cargo.

The Russian military would surely examine “how this was done in order to take appropriate measures to prevent these situations in the future,” according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
