The air force of Ukraine claimed on Tuesday that it had shot down 29 drones and a cruise missile deployed by Russia to target Ukrainian territory overnight.
The Mykolaiv region in southern Ukraine and the Dnipropetrovsk region in the center of the country, according to the Ukrainian military, were the primary targets of the drone attacks.
According to Serhiy Lysak, the regional governor of Dnipropetrovsk, intercepts’ falling debris destroyed an industrial facility in Pavlohrad and set a private company in Dnipro on fire.
The strikes came after the European Union’s foreign ministers met in Kiev on Monday and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Ukraine.
Political pressure on Western assistance for Ukraine has increased when a pro-Russian candidate won the election in Slovakia, an EU and NATO member.
