The United States recently halted the delivery of bombs to Israel, citing apprehensions about Israel’s potential initiation of a significant ground operation in Rafah, located in southern Gaza. A senior administration official disclosed that the shipment, comprising 1,800 2,000lb (907kg) bombs and 1,700 500lb bombs, was put on hold last week. According to the official, there are unresolved concerns regarding Israel’s response to the humanitarian requirements of civilians in Rafah. At present, Israel has refrained from offering an immediate response.
