According to the latest announcement by the Saudi government, Pakistani Hajj pilgrims will be required to pay for Aab-e-Zam Zam when bringing it back to Pakistan. Upon their return, they will receive a five-litre bottle of the holy water, which will cost them Saudi Arabian Riyal 15 for the plastic bottle, not the water itself. As a result, the cost of Hajj will increase slightly for each pilgrim. This new regulation will lead to Pakistan paying approximately Rs200 million to the Saudi government this year, which will be paid in dollars.
