A deadly shooting at a Texas outlet mall on Saturday left eight people dead and several others wounded before police neutralized the shooter. The incident occurred at the Allen Premium Outlets, a busy shopping complex around 35 miles north of Dallas. The shooter was seen getting out of a sedan in the mall’s parking lot before opening fire on people walking nearby. A police officer who responded to the gunfire quickly “neutralized” the shooter, who was later found dead on a sidewalk. The identities of the victims and shooter have not been released yet. Several victims are undergoing critical surgeries, while four others are stable. The incident occurred at a time when the mall was busy with weekend shoppers. Texas Governor Greg Abbott called it an “unspeakable tragedy,” and US President Joe Biden has been briefed on the shooting. The shooting is one of more than 195 mass shootings in the United States so far this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
